About

Diary of Smells is an on-going, multi-sensorial project in which I directly use mostly synthetic scents  as protagonists among other typically dominant visual and sound components such as video, photography, and sculpture. The inclusion of the olfactory—one’s first experienced sense—results from my long examination of society’s basic need to be sheltered in a moment in which the sense of home has been disturbed by the insecurities brought by ethnic wars, migrations, political and religion divisions, and, especially, the environment’s brittle state. Diary of Smells explores collective experiences to odors and its relationship to memory. It is also a virtual archive of smell information.
